Expert knowledge of engineering standards and best practices used to develop complex simulations and models of engineering network systems encompassing IT systems, hardware and software.
Demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (including Visio), as well as a knowledge of or ability to learn Sketch Up, PuTTY, Wireshark, GNS3and Cisco Packet tracer.
Extensive knowledge of network infrastructure and network hardware as well as the ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including W APs, ASA/firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. Specific knowledge items include:
Expert knowledge to design, configure and test LAN/WAN networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.
Expert knowledge of network engineering to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and other network and system problems.

By utilizing an in-depth knowledge of computer and radio networks, the incumbent will:
Design, install, document, maintain and administer computer networks including systems software, applications software, hardware, and other related systems.
Perform disaster recovery operations, protect data, software, and hardware from attacks by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
Configure and administer routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls in line with Information Technology (IT) security policy, replace faulty network hardware components when necessary and work closely with users to identify potential issues, correct existing problems and provide remote support to on-site end users.
As a senior technical expert in fielded technology(s), provides continuing program management by preparing operational and maintenance specifications and guides for end-users. Provides training and technical briefings regarding the use, installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of equipment. Develops standards and test plans to assure reliability of system performance throughout its life and ensures that equipment is properly maintained.
Develop solutions to pass data between disparate systems. This may include:
RADAR equipment, infra-red systems,
Radio Frequency (RF) equipment,
Electro-optical sensors, imaging systems, analog and digital telecommunications equipment,
OPS tracking technologies,
Data fusion software and data dissemination equipment.
T echnologies may be utilized in unique applications for which there is little or no documentation.
Assess and corrects all system malfunctions and provides accurate data-logs of all maintenance, system upgrades and system configurations.
Corrective actions may be required on weekends, in the evening and during non-standard work hours on short notice.
Test network systems for daily/routine functionality as well as the incorporation of design modifications.
Functionality of legacy systems may be tested routinely; new equipment may be tested for compatibility with legacy systems and emerging or prototype technologies may be tested for feasibility of use.
Conducts data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources.
Create administrative procedures for equipment hardware and software IT approvals and accreditation.
Drafts system diagrams and documents network and software configurations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
