Title: Civil Engineering Director, PE – Land Development

Location: Denver, Colorado

Job Summary Civil Engineering Director – Land Development

The primary function of this position is to support staff and manage staff on land development projects applying engineering principles and technologies that exceed client’s expectations. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering planning, design, and construction phase assignments and managing a team of civil engineers on a range of project sizes and types.

Essential Functions of the Civil Engineer – Land Development

  • Proven ability to manage civil engineering projects and teams from beginning to the end of a project
  • ‘Work closely with Project Managers and Owners to create concept site plans and take the design through Construction Documents
  • Manage staff assignments and projects for on time completion
  • Reviewing dimensional drawings and base drawings
  • Quality control for redlines and final document submittals
  • Manage flow of information to ensure timely implementation of design and oversee schedule management and design milestone dates.
  • Manage electronic document file structure, naming conventions in accordance with company standards
  • Productive team member and AutoCAD Civil 3D user to manage development of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Work with project teams on drawings which meet and exceed customer requirements (bid and submittal phase)
  • Serve as an information source during construction
  • Maintain notes, design calculations and documentation for future reference and continuous improvement on future documents

Knowledge, Technical Skills and Abilities of the Civil Engineer – Land Development

  • Broad knowledge and skills of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods
  • Knowledge of real estate development, particularly design parameters including site grading plans, utilities, drainage
  • Ability to create layout drawings from sketches and specifications
  • Understand geotechnical reports and design criteria for paving and drainage
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Training and Experience Requirements for the Civil Engineer – Land Development

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree a plus
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a PE (not including EIT)
  • Advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D functions
