SMSI, LLC is seeking a Mechanical/Nuclear Engineer for TA-55 Capital Construction Projects for work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM. The need is immediate. Position is direct hire and is a full-time position. Per diem, lodging, and travel expenses paid.
8 - 15 years of experience as a Mechanical/Nuclear Engineer (or equivalent with hiring manager approval) with construction projects and/or line organizations.
Bachelor's degree in related field
Active DOE Q clearance, or the ability to obtain a Q clearance
Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
Advanced knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures, and administrative practices.
Advanced knowledge of related construction practices
Extensive knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages Field Change Requests (FCRs), Field Change Notices (FCNs), and Design Revision Notices (DRNs) in Delta; Resolves Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
Integrates with Records and Subcontract Technical Representatives on vendor submittals requirements, project code compliance, and technical exhibits.
Dispositions vendor and project submittals and on-site vendor oversight
Interfaces with Owner s Representatives/NNSA and Engineering of Record as well as with Field Engineers/Construction for guidance/clarification for a variety of Project needs
Performs Commercial Grade Dedication as needed; Adheres to engineering policies, programs, procedures and practices; Plans and schedules engineering work; Develops design and procurement schedules
Resolves conventional engineering issues to include complex and conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements
Ensures key milestones, deliverables and budget are met; owns the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets.
Performs and manages work in accordance with relevant engineering principles and procedures, design guides, and standards
Coordinates engineering efforts with project manager, procurement, construction, startup, environmental safety and health and project controls
