The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Assist Project Managers, and ability to lead, in preparation of reports and construction specifications and contract documentation

+ Assist and coordinate with designers in preparation of civil design drawings and design calculations.

+ Planning and design of various project elements.

+ Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.

+ Undertake quality control procedures.

+ Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts.

+ Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Knowledge of the use of CAD is not a priority but is an asset.

+ Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff.

+ Ensuring overall data quality and integrity

+ Conduct or participate in meetings with clients, design staff, or municipal/provincial approval staff as necessary.

+ Assist in construction administration duties to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance to specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc.

+ Quantity measurements, quantity calculations and preparation of progress payment certificates, progress reports, and other contract documentation.

+ Surveying, construction layout, and construction inspection, when necessary.

+ Adaptable to work between civil infrastructure /municipal design, land development and water resources projects.

+ Working cooperatively with other professional disciplines such landscape architecture, electrical, structural, mechanical, architectural environmental and legal survey, as may be necessary.

+ Preparation of project reports, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverable as necessary for the bidding and construction of designed work

+ Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

+ Preparation of critical path scheduling and construction cost estimates.

+ Assistance with permitting and approval processes.

+ Review of material testing and other construction compliance documentation and reports.

+ Liaison with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.

+ From time to time job assignments may include out-of-town work in northern Alberta or N.W.T.

Minimum Requirements

+ BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

+ EIT or P. Eng. designation in Alberta

+ Design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks, roadways and detail design.

+ Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

+ Proficient with GPS and Total Station Surveying

Preferred Qualifications

+ Modeling, Site development, Site Plan design and coordination

+ Strong time management and organizational skills

+ Proactive and eagerness to grow and develop in role

+ Construction administration experience

+ Proficient with MS Office Suite

+ Excellent attention to detail

+ Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues
