We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Operations Engineering to join our team in Houston, TX and transition to Cameron, Louisiana upon start of commissioning of the Calcasieu Pass Facility.
This tactical role reports to the Director, Operations Engineering and will progress key Ready For Operations (RFO) activities to transition the facility from EPC to the operations phase.
Post substantial completion (SC), this SME position integrates into a technical team dedicated to Operations support, Process Monitoring and Production Engineering to safely enhance overall availability, reliability and performance efficiency of the assets.
Aside, the SME shall exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills in English as the role is expected to produce coherent, high quality documents, be a self-starter and develop on conceptual ideas with minimal guidance.
Responsibilities and Core Competencies:
Process Engineering
Strong design understanding and operational expertise of key equipment involved in LNG liquefaction facilities with demonstrable experiences working with Feed Gas and Pre-Treatment systems, Liquefaction and Refrigeration Systems, HHC Management systems, Storage and Loading / BOG management Systems as the role will:
Provide daily support to plant Production personnel in troubleshooting process issues and concerns by integrating fundamental principles of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and hydrocarbon process chemistry
Support the development and utilize Process Monitoring tools that monitor process efficiency and make improvement recommendations to enhance production and efficiency performance.
Support process improvement studies, performance optimization, incident investigations and economic evaluations
Develop comprehensive Operations and Engineering procedure development to support new and enhanced as well as special operating modes of the CP facility
Provide Process Engineering support for plant shutdowns/turnarounds.
Production Engineering
Key understanding of Production Engineering activities providing support, guidance and mentorship to Production Engineering functions in the preparation of Production performance summaries for process units, data on total production, capacity utilization, operating reliability, unit efficiency, production loss categories and energy utilization as the role will additionally:
Support the development and adjustments of Facility Production Forecasting Models
Participate in daily strategy planning with Production management and work to overcome the limitations and deficiencies to assure targets are met.
Measure and report against departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
Develop on HC loss accounting principles and quantify losses to support process enhancements and opportunity identification.
Review LNG custody transfer calculations
Validate terminal and independent surveyors documents for accuracy against commercial SPA's and regulatory standards as applicable.
Qualifications:
A minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience working in a senior engineering capacity in an industrial setting in engineering or operations.
LNG experience is required however, consideration would be given to applicable petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experiences.
Experience in all aspects of process engineering from conceptual design, economics, detailed engineering, CSU, performance testing and operations .
Education and Certifications:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
Professional Engineer's (PE) License or equivalent CEng license is preferred
Additional Skills:
Possess effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, and discipline specific software applications: HYSYS, Aspen Plus, etc.
Skilled in the application of relevant major design codes and standards.
Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
