About the role
This role will provide management oversight, subject matter expertise and thought leadership on sustaining our core seismic and gravity/magnetics databases and improving the way that geophysical data are utilized throughout the Petroleum lifecycle. The role requires a working knowledge of geophysical data types/concepts, a good familiarity with geoscience and engineering practices, as well as experience with the data and process governance, systems needed to improve business efficiency.
Working closely with geoscience and Technology, the role will contribute to establishing and improving the foundational databases, their associated applications workflows, and tools and processes to support these systems (including data loading per agreed governance & geomatics standards to both Master and Operational repositories). The vision is to enable geoscientists and engineers to make timely decisions based on reliable data and insightful analytics capabilities, in support of safe, reliable and profitable operations.This role is expected to lead and contribute to a multiple-disciplinary team, building the required cross-disciplinary relationships and collaboration networks to enable the team to provide effective and efficient business support. This role is also expected to be an active member of TDRM leadership group, supporting and challenging their peers in driving adoption of best practices in data management across all technical disciplines.
This position is a grade 13 role.
In this role you will:
Support technical data systems for users across the petroleum lifecycle.
Ensure databases enable all petro-technical personnel and operations staff to perform systematic and standardized approaches to work via the required technical applications suite
Management of technical data loading, project creation, data integrity and QC/conditioning and content management and maintenance.
Defining and managing movement of data between applications
Technical apps workflow support, operational data archive/restore
Define, implement and sustain data management governance and standards / best practices.
Champion continuous improvement of technical data platforms
Utilize fit-for-purpose tools to implement business process which may include automation and integration where necessary.
Support collaboration amongst domains and disciplines by highlighting the importance and relationships of the various data types and attributes throughout the well lifecycle.
Develop and execute a Petroleum governance framework in alignment with data policies and procedures for Master and Operational data.
Enhance, implement and maintain policies and procedures for the lifecycle management of data to ensure they are appropriate for delivery and sustainment of Master and Operational data.
Degree qualified in geoscience and/or engineering discipline.
In-depth geophysical (seismic/grav-mag) and well data knowledge.
Significant experience developing or using complex software and data systems to support the subsurface data interpretation.
Familiarity with key subsurface apps (e.g.DSG, Petrel, Kingdom, Paleoscan, Trinity, Temis, Geoteric, ArcGIS) and relevant Master dbases (e.g. GWM, Openworks, Prosource, DAP) and key knowledge portals (e.g. Geowiki, GeoDE, PESO)
Knowledge of different measurement, units and standards for various types of petrotechnical data.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience within the oil and gas industry, with a focus in seismic and well data management.
Self-driven individual with the ability to manage a large individual workload by utilizing time management and multi-tasking skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and work effectively in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment, mentoring and supporting team members.
Strong understanding of the business data flow throughout the well lifecycle.
