Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control business is expanding at our campus at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico. We are seeking a qualified Test Engineer to join our team. Understand and follow detailed plans and procedures, while operating within the proximity of live ordnance testing and integration activities. Position requires some physical labor to deploy and recover field equipment, and often requires use of standard test & troubleshooting equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and similar electronic tools; and various technical hand tools such as wire strippers, cable connector & repair tools, etc.
Perform missile electronic system or subsystem integration, assembly and buildup.
Required to operate and maintain missile checkout and support equipment and to support missile telemetry test data acquisition.
Be able to achieve and maintain certification in technical skills as required by mechanical and/or electrical product or process specifications (i.e. ordnance handling, soldering, electrical assembly, application of sealants, etc.).
Required to handle, install, and conduct testing of electro-explosive and solid explosive ordnance devices.
Willing to support frequent and sometimes extended travel to appropriate test support locations within the confines of White Sands Missile Range, the continental United States, or overseas as required in support of job functions and assigned duties.
Understand, observe and enforce compliance with all environmental control procedures for the handling and disposition of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Employee must adhere to physical and information security standards and procedures, Environmental Health and Safety standards and procedures, and including compliance with environmental control procedures for the handling and disposition of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
The locale: WSMR is located in southern New Mexico, and has an area of almost 3,200 square miles, and is near Alamogordo, NM, Las Cruces, NM, and El Paso, TX. The region is high desert with nearby mountain ranges and several manmade lakes that offer superb outdoor recreational activities. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and pleasant climate. This southern New Mexico / west Texas region is a great place to live and to raise a family, and is home to New Mexico State University and the University of Texas – El Paso.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Proficiency in the use of general Windows-based PC applications.
Effective communication and teaming skills.
Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Willingness to perform duties in a military ordnance integration and test environment.
Willingness to perform demanding physical duties in remote and sometimes harsh field environments.
Demonstrated ability to use typical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and similar electronic tools; and various technical hand tools such as wire strippers, cable connector & repair tools, etc.
Ability to achieve commercial vehicle (CMV) operations certification, and to safely drive heavy-duty company pickup trucks and attach, tow, back, park, and operate trailers/generators.
Ability to understand and comply with physical and information security standards and procedures.
Ability to understand and comply with Environmental Health and Safety standards and procedures, including compliance with environmental control procedures for the handling and disposition of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Ability to obtain a secret security clearance, and must have an interim secret clearance prior to start, so therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.
Familiar with telemetry systems, and automated or manual test equipment.
Experience with blueprints and wiring diagrams, and experience in troubleshooting, cable assembly and test.
Experience with explosives, experience on test ranges, familiarity with test environments.
Familiarity with RF antennas and telemetry acquisition systems, and copper and/or fiber optic data transmission systems and their repair.
Current CMV certification or Commercial Drivers License.
Current DOD secret clearance.
