We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Quality Engineer to work in a high-performance self-directed work team environment and partner with our management team to align our quality initiatives and functions with the objectives of the business.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring world class quality standards to produce quality seats which meet and exceed customer’s specifications and expectations.
Monitoring customer SPPS/Corrective actions issued, responsible for initial responses up until final closure
Entering of SPPS clean point information as per customer requirement once ticket has been closed
Issuing of customer required PR in the Lear LQTS and SQTS system, follow-up and closure
Generation of BIQS documents as part of the problem solving process.
Maintenance of the Control Plan updates as required, control plan audits to customer requirements
Team lead in error / mistake proofing opportunities resulting from customer reported concerns
Interface with plant engineering on PFMEA top RPN reduction plans
Investigates, determines root cause and resolves production build problems.
Resolves manufacturing problems with non-conforming material to ensure supplier quality.
Evaluates process capability together with production and engineering through regular audits on the floor, assists with engineering and production in developing new best practice methods
Builds a good working relationship with the customer and responds immediately to customer concerns/issues SPPS received, initial responses, clean point information and works with plant quality supervisors on establishing containment activities
Process audits as required
Reviews seats returned from General Motors to determine cause.
Provides direction and distribution of work to workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
Interfaces with procurement, engineering, manufacturing, customer or vendors to coordinate and resolve quality-related problems.
Performs production tryouts of new material
Establish internal and external containment functions determining criteria and methods
Maintains the highest level of integrity and ethics in dealing with all suppliers.
Performs computer work (preparation of reports, memos, audits, documents, graphs, etc.).
IATF working knowledge/ISO 14001 Internal Auditor
Recognizing and understanding the requirements of our internal and external customers and is dedicated to establishing the highest industry standards for quality, value, service & technology.
Performs any other duties as required in pursuance to the function of this position or as directed.
High School Diploma
Knowledge of Quality Systems, ISO9000/QS9000 and IATF 16949
Working knowledge of customer GM Supply Power portal (applications at a minimum, SPPS)
APIS Software (PFMEA, Process Control Plan maintenance)
Post Secondary Education or Experiential Equivalency
Comprehensive knowledge of AQP, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow
Knowledge of measurement systems, FARO CAM2Q software
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical skills and problem solving.
3 to 5 years experience in the Quality Department preferably within the manufacturing/ automotive industry.
Experience in ISO/IATF, Customer and Internal Audits.
Understanding of manufacturing assembly, sequencing and equipment principles.
Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement devices.
Supervisory experience within a unionized environment.
Engineering background would be an asset.
Ability to reach and interpret component drawings and tolerance callouts.
