The Manufacturing Engineer’s main role will be to support the production operations. The Manufacturing Engineer will evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
Evaluate production activities through data analysis to identify opportunities for improvements in productivity, material flow, safety, quality, and cost. Prioritize actions to be taken, establish schedules for completion, and implement the necessary measures to realize savings.
Drive LEAN principles throughout the Operations department. Train operations personnel on LEAN principles. Develop Value Stream
Maps for core processes and Lead Rapid Improvement Events (Kaizen).
Conduct time studies and audits as appropriate to validate and adjust labor estimates to reflect actual costs.
Work with vendors in determining product specifications and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications.
Facilitate and/or lead cross-functional teams with Engineering, Production and Estimating in support of driving efficiencies and eliminating non-value added activities.
Collaborate with design engineering in concurrent engineering efforts to ensure manufacturability. Proactively identify opportunities for improved manufacturability and coordinate implementation with design engineering and operations personnel.
Document and track all cost savings and process improvements against targets.
Evaluate quality data and implement improvement activities to ensure all quality requirements are met.
Plan and execute facility and work cell layout modifications based on planned products and workload to optimize material and product flow.
Define standardized work and create documented work instructions.
Develop, design, justify and implement appropriate production tools, equipment and other assets to maximize labor efficiency and reduce total cost.
Control the implementation of ECOs to ensure product quality requirements are met and that rework and scrap are minimized.
Create product routings and labor estimates and ensure they are kept up to date.
Support estimating function by providing estimates of direct labor and raw material costs as required. Develop and maintain cost models for various activities for use in estimating.
Support make/buy analysis of fabricated parts and subassemblies.
Support all health, safety, and environmental objectives of the company.
Keep up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
Collaborate closely with production personnel to maximize overall efficiency of operations.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:
2 or more years of experience in manufacturing/Industrial Engineering.
Understanding of Fabrication, welding & assembly process.
Proficiency in SolidWorks & AutoCAD
Good understanding of, and experience in implementing, LEAN initiatives, including leading Rapid Improvement (Kaizen) events and Value Stream Mapping.
Relevant experience in a make to order/engineer to order project environment.
BS / MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial engineering.
LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
2+ years of experience in manufacturing / Industrial Engineering.
Proficiency in SolidWorks & AutoCAD.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work will be performed sitting at a desk, but some work performed will be in a shop environment;
Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable;
Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials;
Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach;
The use of Safety Glasses is required;
The use of earplugs is recommended;
Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week;
Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
