We are seeking a Process Engineer IV for our Big Sandy Plant located in Catlettsburg, KY.
Provides process engineering technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and various Corporate departments. Responsible for a variety of engineering activities that include identification and initiation of plant improvement projects, support of plant capital projects, technical support to production teams, resolution of all technical regulatory issues, and development/presentation of technical training.
Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/processes/techniques. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment. Coordinates planning, organization, and implementation of engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates as specified by management. The incumbent must manage multiple assignments while working closely with other staff members, production teams, and maintenance personnel.
This position may represent a transition from individual contributor to the managerial level. It may or may not carry the ongoing responsibilities for people management. The position requires an ability to interpret on a broad basis, principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
Participates in production team activities. Provides guidance to Operations regarding process conditions and product campaign start-ups and transitions
Participates in the preparation of process reports, regulatory reports and process manufacturing instructions. Provides technical guidance and technical support for establishing raw material and final product specifications
Initiates and obtains approval for cost reduction projects. Coordinates and/or participates in the design, installation and start-up of new projects at the plant
Required to be a part of the Manufacturing/CCC management team and is expected to exhibit a high degree of cooperation/teamwork to maintain the most efficient operation of the plant. Must be flexible in work activities to support cross-functional department and position assignments
Develops a high level of technical proficient in the manufacture of activated carbon and stays current with chemical engineering skills
Provides coverage for Production Coordinators in their absence. Responsible for all line operations when serving in this capacity
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university. Degree or Concentration: Chemical Engineering
7-10 years experience in a plant environment
9+ years, including manufacturing development/optimization experience preferred
Strategic sourcing and negotiation training
International business experience
Ability to work independently on multiple strategic initiatives
Ability to travel as required, international and domestic (up to 10%)

Hours of work: Expected to work outside of normal hours at times to support 24 hr/day plant operation and for occasional off-site assignments
