The Principal Solution Train Engineer is responsible for effectively delivering business results by championing a culture of accountability and consistent Lean/Agile practices based on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) SDLC. This person is a facilitator and motivator, working across departments and offices to ensure collaboration, communication, visibility, and successful delivery of software products by teams organized into Release Trains and Scrum Teams. This role will guide Release Train Engineers and Scrum Masters who will deliver value for large business initiatives, or multiple important projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Act as Solution Train Engineer for initiatives requiring support from multiple Release Trains to ensure effective collaboration between trains.
Oversee a roadmap of work organized into Program Increments (PI) and delivered by Agile Release Trains comprised of multiple Scrum teams.
Partner with stakeholders and Product Management to plan PIs that deliver objectives successfully and on time.
Work with Release Train Engineers to drive process improvement and ensure PI readiness.
Define and deliver SAFe Program Increment metrics that enable transparent and credible reporting.
Leverage online tools, meetings, onsite visits, and one-on-one conversations to be an outstanding communicator of Solution and Release Train progress and risks.
Facilitate resolution of conflicts, foster creative solutions, and handle matters expeditiously and proactively.
As a servant leader, have a direct and positive impact on people and teams; be accountable for the work of Release Train Engineers.
Provide strategic opportunities to others to help close their skill gaps
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
10+ years of experience in Software Product Development
5+ years of experience using Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, XP, or SAFe)
3+ years direct international experience/exposure
Agile Certification from Scrum Alliance Inc., Scrum.org, or Scaled Agile
Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus
Foreign language skill a plus
