We are seeking an energetic, hardworking research engineer/scientist to join the Autonomous Driving Perception Research team within NVIDIA's Autonomous Vehicle organization. The team consists of a group of dynamic AI applied researchers and engineers. We interact and collaborate with researchers and software engineers to advance the state of our AV stack through research innovations. We are focused on 3D Computer Vision, Model efficiency and Data-Centric Modeling. This role will drive data-centric modeling innovations to systematically reduce the labeling costs in large-scale perception systems. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: self and semi-supervised learning, simulation for deep learning, active learning and mining strategies, network interpretability and methods to continuously learn from data. You should have strong analytical skills, good communication, and interpersonal capabilities to work in a team and make a joint effort towards a common goal.

What you'll be doing:
The main area of focus for this position is data-centric modeling.

Propose and implement alternative ideas to scale up deep learning for AV. Demonstrate their impact in the production pipeline.

Collaborate and build relationships to create transfer research results into product. You will contribute to integrating novel algorithms into core applications to enable a better generation of autonomous vehicles.

Understand and follow the latest academic results and how those could be translated to improve our systems.

Influence the progress of the field by producing top-tier publications.

What we need to see:
MS (or equivalent experience) or Ph.D. in Computer Science, with a focus in Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.

Strong expertise in machine learning and computer vision. Expertise in robotics, planning and simulation are a plus.

Strong mathematical background and ability to analyze results.

Strong programming skills in Python to bring ideas into production systems and to contribute to a large codebase.

Self-motivated with good written and communication skills.

Proven publication track record in fields related to machine learning, computer vision, analytics, large-scale systems, statistics, and mathematics.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:
First author publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences such as NIPS, ECCV, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, or related journals.

Software engineering experience in AV.
