We're seeking a Lead Technical Specialist to join our Marine Division and be based out of our Woodcliff Lake, NJ or New York, NY office locations.


Lead Technical Specialist - Marine Division


Reporting to a Principal and coordinating with the division’s Technical Director, a Lead Technical Specialist provides support for all engineering-related activities for a specific technical division within a regional office. The Lead Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting the delivery of the organization’s established policies and objectives on all division projects, initiatives, and processes by applying technical excellence, best practices, and strong leadership to all work and deliverables. The Lead Technical Specialist is expected to be able to jump into a variety of project types/sizes and immediately contribute to the development and QA/QC of project deliverables.


§ Serves as a technical leader for the division in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area.

§ Subject matter expertise across many of the major technical areas of practice for a specific technical division in a regional office.

§ Keeps informed of new developments and requirements in building codes, design standards and analysis methods affecting the division for the purpose of recommending and implementing changes.

§ Leads technical assignments and QA/QC of calculations and work product.

§ Supervises and mentors a staff of engineers and technicians.

§ Plans, schedules and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.

§ Reviews project deliverables to ensure compliance with company and industry technical standards through QA/QC reviews.

§ Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.

§ Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.

§ Responsible for updating and maintaining design standards and analysis methods for assigned practice area.

§ Coordinates with Principal on weekly manpower assignments for all technical operations and assists in managing any changes, as required.

§ Supports training and technical guidance to appropriate personnel regarding engineering analysis and design standards and technical software use.


§ Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.

§ Professional Engineer Registration required.

§ Minimum of twelve years of related experience.

§ Excellent attention to detail and technical written and verbal communication skills; public speaking and presentation experience preferred.

§ Experience as a technical leader of a team of engineers

§ Builds constructive and effective internal and external relationships.

§ Maintains knowledge of current industry trends and issues.

§ Able to thrive in a team focused environment and engage in creative, critical thought; takes initiative and can function at a high level on multi-disciplinary teams.
