AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer for employment in the Germantown, MD office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

+ Performing geotechnical tasks and working closely with other disciplines to meet the project needs

+ Oversight of a variety of subsurface investigation programs.

+ Adhere to AECOM safety culture and maintaining safe work environment

+ Assigning geotechnical laboratory testing

+ Performing design calculations for pavements, shallow and deep foundation, tunnel components, and retaining walls, temporary and permanent support of excavation, settlement analysis, ground improvement analyses, slope stability analyses, seepage analyses,

+ Prepare of engineering reports

+ Performing construction oversight

+ Potential for international travel

+ This position does not include sponsorship for United States Work Authorization

Minimum Requirements

+ B.S. in Geotechnical Engineering

+ Thorough understanding of the concepts of soil mechanics

+ Experience with pavement design, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability

+ Experience with gINT, Geostudio and pavement design software

+ A minimum of 0-2 years of demonstrated experience in the field and office.

+ EIT Certification

+ Ability to work in inclement weather

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs

+ Valid Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

+ M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering

+ Knowledge of geology within Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia

+ Experience in monitoring fill placement, pile driving and general geotechnical construction

+ Demonstrated hands-on experience of conducting large scale subsurface investigations using various drilling methodologies.

+ Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing.

+ Experience with installation and monitoring of instrumentation

+ Experience with technical report writing

+ Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
