ABOUT THE POSITION:
Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:
Conducting fieldwork (up to 80%) such as soil and groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, and drilling and contractor oversight following training;
Assisting with geologic/hydrogeologic calculations using computer-based technical tools;
Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
Following instructions and interacting with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors and construction personnel.
Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in an applicable field. (required)
Degree focus areas are civil, environmental or chemical engineering; or hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, or environmental geology. (preferred)
Experience with ArcView, Excel, and/or Microsoft Office. (preferred)
Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
Ability to attend paid OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training at the start of the internship. (required)
Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
Ability to perform outdoor work related to field tasks including stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, at times over uneven ground; and lift and/or move 30 to 49 pounds unaided and 50 to 100 pounds with assistance. (required)
