The Quality Process Engineer will play an important role in helping to ensure the quality of products critical to maintaining secure communications and information for first responders and government agencies. Serve as an IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 Certified subject matter expert responsible for training others responsible for the quality and reliability of soldered electronic components and assemblies.
Apply and demonstrate proficient instructional skills, wire & terminal assembly, surface mount technology, soldering connection, reflow soldering process, test methods & related standards using statistical process control methodology for the manufacturing & testing of cabling and printed circuit board assemblies.
Implementing and leading continuous improvement initiatives with guidance and direction from the Director of Quality for the facility. Maximizing organizational quality, performance, efficiency, and cost savings by proactively identifying areas for improvement.
Identifies and leads quality continuous improvement initiatives to improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes utilizing Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Methodologies within their assigned business segments to deliver bottom line, quantified results. This includes performing assessments, planning, facilitation, execution of kaizen events, and sustainment through standard work procedures.
Improving manufacturing processes and providing manufacturing production support. Leads process improvement activities to include in-process defect and scrap reduction.
Identifies, develops and implements continuous improvement projects to improve operating efficiencies, reduce scrap, increase throughput and eliminate waste while ensuring quality performance are achieved.
Partners with design, engineering, manufacturing and quality to lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives across all functional areas. This will require the ability to educate and motivate individuals at various levels of the organization and manage projects to a successful and timely conclusion. This position will interact with senior personnel on technical matters often requiring cross-functional collaboration.
Analyze performance data to identify improvement opportunities. Leads teams to maximize organizational quality, performance, efficiency, and cost savings by proactively identifying areas for improvement.
Establish or assist in establishing mistake proofing techniques. Evaluates and recommends new tools and processes that can improve current work methods and operational efficiencies.
Evaluates and recommends new measurement tools, gauges and methodologies that can improve current measurement standards and increase accuracy.
Performs a variety of duties to independently perform dimensional, visual and testing of diversified electrical components and assemblies are fabricated in compliance with engineering, industry standards and customer required documents.
Develops training programs to align with quality programs and processes.
Advanced data collection and analysis. Participate in the resolution of corrective actions and verifications of actions are implemented effectively.
Manages and leads multiple projects with minimal oversight to help operators achieve sustainable results
Execution of assigned continuous improvement projects and overall delivery of metric improvement and benefits for the facility, resulting in the achievement of strategic business objectives and goals.
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control.
Participate in the development of the PPAP, PFMEA, Process Flow & Control Plans.

Strong dimensional skills required
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical, manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering
Must possess a current CIT certification of IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620 and shall have worked in a manufacturing assembly environment providing a minimum of 3 years training on actual soldering, cabling and printed circuit board assembly.
Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant continuous improvement experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possession of a current Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certificate highly preferred.
Trained or certified in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, preferably having a Black Belt certification.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, and ERP applications.
Ability to effectively communicate process and technical concepts to all levels of the organization. Proven ability to achieve results through teams & perform effectively in a diverse work group.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and analytical skills. Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical data.
Proficient in statistical analysis processes and understands how and when to apply them based on the situation and specific needs. Strong data gathering, documentation and analysis skills.
