Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a Hydraulics and Hydrology Engineer with 4-8 years of experience to support our Railroad Division in our Los Angeles or San Bernardino office. As part of our team, you will perform analysis and design as a Project Engineer on difficult to complex water resource related projects for our rail clients and support the work of other divisions within the firm as requested.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail. Specific experience with winning and executing projects for railroads and transit in addition to state and local municipalities is desired. We are looking for someone with great communication skills and established client relationships who enjoys working in a team environment in a fast paced, professional setting.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide project engineering and task management on water resources design projects
Supervise and delegate work to junior engineers and support staff as necessary to manage specific hydraulic engineering tasks within larger complex projects.
Conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design Perform floodplain, inundation, and hydrologic studies.
Perform sediment transport and scour analyses to support water resources projects. Assist in water resources permitting efforts.
Collect, evaluate, and present data in technical reports and oral presentations.
Assist in the preparation of reports, engineering plans, and specifications for the design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures.
Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams of civil and structural engineers, geomorphologists, biologists, planners, emergency managers, and additional hydraulic and water resources engineers.
Contribute to business development, marketing, and proposal preparation efforts.
Client interaction and coordination on a frequent basis.
Coordinates the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work and performs the design of major projects.
Monitors project schedules and job costs and ensures project performance.
Performs the design calculations of projects and checks the work of staff and design engineers assigned to projects under his/her control.
Supervises assistants, designers, technicians, and CADD operators/drafters assigned to the project team.
Prepares preliminary engineering reports, studies, and presentations to clients and stakeholders.
Participates in business development activities, such as; marketing, developing project win strategies, and preparing technical data for proposals and interviews.
Maintains well organized written records of decisions, meetings, telephone conferences, and other documentation for the permanent project record.

Experience with HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GEO-RAS, storm drain system analysis
Strong background in surface water hydraulics and hydrology as well as applying this technical knowledge to address client needs, meet deliverables, and train junior staff;
Working knowledge of MicroStation
Team-oriented individual who is eager to lead and manage projects
Effective communication skills - both verbal and written.
Broad understanding of required engineering principles.
Ensure quality management with implementation of quality control standards.
Travel may be necessary
Skilled in project management, managing technical professionals, and demonstrated ability to lead and direct multiple concurrent projects.
Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering
Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
MicroStation experience required.
