The Data Science & Actuarial team is part of an international core of integrated advisory, technology and analysis services supporting specialty & commercial insurance underwriters in a wide variety of lines including Commercial EL/PI, D&O, Energy, Environmental, Financial Lines, Inland Marine, M&A, Renewables and Surety.

We are looking for a Reporting Engineer to join our team of experienced data engineers, reporting engineers, data scientists and actuaries to help our underwriting businesses to evaluate, price and manage their risks & business operations.
The successful candidate will develop high quality business intelligence solutions that deliver insight across Innovisk from senior management to daily operations and help us design external-facing data products. You will also enjoy direct interaction with highly skilled and experienced underwriters, brokers, and insurance experts – the people who are pushing the industry forward.

The Role

Design, develop and execute MI reports for each of the underwriting businesses and Innovisk core to enable strategic and tactical decision-making, based on your elicitation of end-user requirements and collaboration with BAs on the Tech and Operations teams
Provide these MI reports as part of a suite of interactive dashboards, using modern dashboarding tools – our current stack is based on SSRS and Power BI
Work closely with the Data Scientists and Actuaries to identify patterns, trends, outliers, exceptions in the underwriting businesses operational and performance data: help to understand root causes, predict future patterns and recommend management actions
Work closely with the Data Engineers to scope & prepare datasets including novel and external assets, to design and create data models and data marts for efficient ETL and data warehousing
Help us develop streamlined external-facing commercial data products
As a new venture we have very little technical debt, so you will also have an opportunity to help shape our frameworks and methodologies.
Support the team in stakeholder engagement and business process

The Requirements

Minimum of an undergraduate degree in a quantitative subject, ideally containing computer science, software engineering, statistics or data analysis modules
3 to 5 years’ experience working as a reporting engineer / data analyst, ideally in insurance, alternatively in banking, fintech or other financial services
Strong and proven capability extracting information from dimensional data stores and SQL databases, and understanding the structure, semantics, quality and limitations of that data
Strong capability creating rich, engaging, interactive reports to communicate information and insight to a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences
A passion for information design, communication and data understanding
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and desire for good documentation, exceptional delivery, effective organization, and high-quality communication with team and customers
Strong technical skills with PowerBI, MS SQL Server (inc SSAS), T-SQL, Excel
Desirable technical skills with Python, R, Git, Apache Airflow, MS Azure
Optional skills with a variety of MI tools like Looker, Tableau, Domo, Qlikview
