NIKE, Inc., Beaverton, OR. Will conduct high impact scientific research and collaborate with designers and engineers to apply data-driven insights to highly technological footwear innovations in Beaverton, OR. Will create the foundation for innovation with a relentless pursuit of data driven truths and insights that solve real problems, improves athletic performance and impacts human behavior. Will involve state-of-the-art scientific equipment, such as biomechanical testing facilities, force platforms, EMG (electromyogram), and 3D motion capture to collect and analyze athlete subject data to generate insights that drive product innovation. Will work with automated treadmill data collection systems, adjustable and adaptive footwear concepts, and computer programming of custom biomechanics analysis software. Will utilize this technology and apply advanced and diversified research concepts and theories to enhance product creation process. Will develop new tools, methods, and procedures for analyzing athlete data to streamline the data acquisition process. Will utilize motion capture equipment to quantify athletic movement. Will lead and develop a sprinting research agenda that supports the creation of innovative new products that enhance athlete performance. Will utilize programming software to develop innovative tools, methods, and procedures for efficient data processing, real-time feedback, and compelling visualizations to communicate extreme complex data and results to non-scientific audiences (such as designers and marketing). Ten percent or less domestic and international travel.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Human Factors, or Ergonomics. Experience: one year of experience in biomechanical research Skills/Requirements: 1 year of experience: (1) utilizing an understanding of anatomy, biomechanical principles, experimental designs, and statistical procedures to deliver scientific insights pertaining to footwear innovations; (2) utilizing an understanding of sport performance and injury mechanisms to develop data driven insights that influence product development; (3) Matlab; (4) developing tools, methods, and procedures to increase the efficiency of scientific data processing, provide real-time feedback, and create complex visualizations for non-scientific audiences; (5) utilizing biomechanical research tools to analyze, deliver, and review biomechanical data; and (6) executing research projects to deliver performance insights that result in innovative footwear.
