As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expertise regarding data movement and management tools to administer and maintain data confidentiality, integrity, and availability in all database environments. You will work with multiple teams to help deliver new and outstanding experiences to our stakeholders while ensuring reliability and performance. The IT Operations Team is a team of Database Engineers, Desktop Engineers and Web Systems Engineers. Our Database Engineers are responsible for the database infrastructure of both SQL, Oracle and cloud databases. We also focus on performance of both the database and application code. Monitoring and process automation/improvement are key factors in the success of our team, FCSAmerica and ultimately our customers.
Actively participate in the technical design, structural requirements, and the administration/ evaluation of existing or proposed database systems by providing system expertise and database domain knowledge.
Monitor existing database systems and perform system enhancements to ensure optimal performance to meet business requirements.
Design and coordinate installation and configuration of new database instances in all environments.
Assist with continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance, providing increased functionality, and supporting operational systems based on business requirements.
Perform database administration tasks such as backup, restore, capacity planning and permissions.
Plan, document and test disaster recovery process.
Provide 24 x 7 operational support for database systems on a rotating schedule.
High proficiency with database analysis, development, administration, stored procedures, (PL/SQL & T-SQL), SQL query analysis and optimization, SQL Server Integrations Services (SSIS), Data Transformation Services (DTS), Materialized Views, partitioning, multi-tenant, Active Data Guard (ADG), and triggers.
Proficient with Microsoft and Oracle database tools and technologies.
Experience with cloud database management on Azure or AWS.
Demonstrated ability to effectively architect complex databases to meet the need of the rapidly changing business environment.
Proficient in current and recent versions of Microsoft SQL and Oracle Server, Microsoft Visual Studio, Oracle SQL Developer, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), and third-party database optimization and monitoring tools.
Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Computer Science or MIS
5-7 years of database management and development experience
Microsoft MCDBA, MCITP, or MCSE (Data Platform) certification
Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate, Master, or Professional is a plus
