Techtronic Industries (TTI) is seeking an Analytical Engineer 2 or 3 with experience using finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and other computer aided engineering (CAE) tools to drive new and mature product development for our Outdoor Products business unit. TTI is an industry leading consumer products company with core product lines in handheld and benchtop power tools, outdoor products, and cleaning products. This is an interdisciplinary position and requires a high degree of self-motivation. Technical skills and willingness to learn are essential.
Position is on-premises, but some remote work may be required.
Guide product development using FEA including structural statics and structural dynamics including modal, random vibration, harmonic, transient, and non-linear explicit, and thermal analyses.
Develop constitutive models with non-linear properties including plasticity, viscoelasticity, and hyperelasticity for materials including metals, composites, and polymers
Conduct steady-state and transient CFD analysis to simulate flow fields and predict heat transfer in two- and three-dimensions.
Ensure model validation and calibration, mesh convergence/independence, and understand tradeoffs between modeling and physical testing.
Perform geometry cleanup and simplification of complex production CAD assemblies for FEA/CFD meshing and analysis
Develop programs to predict mechanism dynamics using MATLAB, Python, or other scientific computing languages.
Work with project and test engineers to design and perform appropriate analytical studies for validation of FEA and CFD models
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines, and work on multiple projects simultaneously
Measure various properties and performance metrics to support new and mature product development.
Provide support for root cause failure analysis, value engineering, and product design enhancement
Maintains current knowledge of developments in the field in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company products
S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field, M.S. preferred.
Experience: 3+ years for Analytical Engineer 2 or 5+ years for Analytical Engineer 3 in relevant field using commercial FEA and/or CFD software (ANSYS Mechanical, Fluent, CFX, and LS-Dyna preferred).
Strong math and physics skills with ability to generate hand calculations to support design decision.
Enthusiasm toward simulation and a collaborative work environment.
Willingness and ability to mentor junior analytical engineers in FEA, CFD, and CAE related topics
