Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Resident / Site Geotechnical Engineer to support construction projects located throughout the Eastern portion of the United States. We have current projects in Kentucky and anticipate additional work in surrounding states. This position will provide geotechnical engineering support on construction projects related to impoundment closures, dams, traditional & specialty geo-structures, and ground improvement. Ideal candidates will have past exposure to heavy earthwork construction and an interest in providing engineering support of construction for closure-in-place of multiple ash impoundments. This is a field-based position that could require periodic travel to two or more construction sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as Resident Engineer / Technical Site Representative for heavy construction projects with significant geotechnical aspects.
Plan, schedule, coordinate and execute detailed phases of geotechnical investigations, testing programs, instrumentation programs, and other technical work.
Liaison between office engineering and project Construction PMs, Superintendents, Forepersons and Site Safety Officer(s).
Assist with preparation of construction Work Plans and other required submissions, to include narratives, drawings, specifications and guidelines, and CQA/CQC manuals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
B.S. in Engineering from a college or university with an ABET accredited civil/geotechnical engineering program; Required
Licensed Professional Engineer; Preferred
Minimum 4 years of experience dealing with geotechnical investigation and instrumentation; Required
Experience successfully executing projects from inception, into planning & scheduling, through design, and to completion of deliverables; Required
Experience providing strong technical direction/support for the geotechnical aspects of construction projects; Required
Proficiency with analytical software pertaining to seepage, slope stability and geogrid-reinforcement; Preferred
Past exposure to heavy earthwork construction related to dams and impoundments; Preferred
Intermediate or higher skill level utilizing AutoCAD 2018; Preferred
Interest in providing geotechnical engineering support for closure-in-place of multiple ash impoundments; Preferred

Good oral and written communication skills; Required

Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Computer skills must include Microsoft Windows – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; Required
Public domain geotechnical analysis & design software; Required

Numerical analysis & modeling software; Preferred
