LET’S GET ROASTING! The Plant Engineer shall have a variety of responsibilities, all of which are dedicated to creating a safe, legally complaint working environment; while improving efficiency, lowering cost, and developing technical capability for the plant. The Plant Engineer will instill a continuous improvement culture and stimulate management thinking about structured problem solving to improve results and build organizational capability.

GRIND THE BEANS. The crucial step to this position’s perfection.

Ensures the plant complies with all state and federal regulations to include environmental, combustion safety, property/personal property Insurance, process safety and technical safety
Establishes standards and policies for pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations
Performs regular audits on safety control programs
Trains and assists plant personnel in carrying out safety and quality control procedures so that everyone on the team is compliant with the appropriate regulations
Communicates any food safety and quality issues to production personnel and management
Proactively identifies outages or issues in the manufacturing processes and/or systems, and addresses
Develops and owns the plant three-year capital plan
Directs maintenance of plant facilities and coordinates requirements for new designs, surveys, and maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery
Develops plant preventative maintenance program including spare parts and equipment log data base. Owns coordination of electrical and mechanical resources.
Develops technical mastery of the core production processes.
Identifies key process parameters and their impact on the process.
Learns capacities and constraints.
Leads initiatives/capital projects.
Problem solving and improvement work will involve the following activities:
Collecting and analyzing data from suppliers, plant operations, customers, and consumers.
Designing and executing experiments, at both supplier sites and in plant operations.
Validating improvements/corrective actions will deliver the desired benefits.
Implementing the improvements/corrective actions in the supply chain.
Partnering with New Product Development, Engineering and Marketing in decisions on final package design for new packaging initiatives.
Managing specifications and changes with associated standards, testing or project work.
Writing reports on testing, validations and problem-solving measures.
Provides system ownership support as needed.
Owns plant integrated work systems unit operations as directed.
Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Reports any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition.
Supports and complies with GMP’s. Understands and follows emergency action plan.
Supports food safety, quality and legality.
Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

BREW THE PERFECT CUP. Ideal candidates will meet the following requirements.

BS in Engineering discipline and 7+ years of manufacturing experience, consumer products operation ideal.
Prior experience in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean implementation a plus.
Understands the CQV process – Commissioning, Qualification, Verification process. Ability to design and execute experiments and/or develop and execute Commissioning/Qualification/Verification plans.
Ability to apply knowledge of continuous improvement and engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
Knowledge of manufacturing cost calculations, gathering production information, and production scheduling.
Ability to develop a sampling plan, sample, analyze and draw statistically based conclusions.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to work a problem from problem statement development through to root cause identification and systemic corrective action implementation.
Proactive, high initiative individual. Action and results oriented with ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.
Strong time management, prioritization and follow through skills. Demonstrated ability to manage several tasks simultaneously through to completion while meeting the needs of multiple customers.
Demonstrated ability to receive basic coaching/direction and execute work assigned in an accurate and timely manner.
Analytical capability with a high level of creativity.
Good financial acumen.
Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, both written and verbal.
Willingness to travel as needed.
