The Job

The Data Engineer will be embedded within the WB Data team, focusing on and providing dedicated support to the Global Insights & Analytics team (GIA). The position will be closely aligned with their GIA counterparts to gather requirements, with oversight from the Executive Director, Consumer Intelligence & Engineering iterate, prototype, architect, test, and deliver high quality data intelligence solutions: data integration, data modeling, and analytics. The right candidate will execute test plans, perform quality reviews and support operations in an agile environment. The role will also provide technical advice, based on broad experience in the field of authority, to determine technical direction and strategy.

The role requires a deep knowledge and hands-on experience working in large scale business intelligence and data platforms collaborating with key business partners to deliver customized data solutions that create business value. The role will also liaise closely with other AT&T/WarnerMedia divisions as well as external big data providers, e.g. Consumer Intelligence, Xandr. The successful candidate must be an innovative individual who can see beyond the obvious, think broadly and looks for opportunities to collaborate with the Business units and internal Technology team members.

The Daily

Work with the GIA team to evaluate business needs and priorities, liaise with key business partners and address team needs related to data systems & management.

Translate business requirements into technical specifications; establish and define details, definitions, and requirements of applications, components and enhancements.

Participate in project planning; identifying milestones, deliverables and resource requirements; tracks activities and task execution.

Review project objectives and determine best technology to implement.

Implement best practices for development and deployment.

Generate design, development and test plans, detailed functional specifications documents, user interface design, and process flow charts for execution of programming.

Develop data pipelines / APIs using Python, SQL, potentially Spark and other AWS methods with Teradata, Snowflake

Supporting business analytics using Tableau, Microstrategy and

Assist users in developing ad-hoc queries / reports

Maintain current knowledge of technical changes, advancements and/or improvements within assigned area or industry discipline, incorporating these improvements where applicable.

Evaluate software products and vendors for WB Tech. Recommend action, develop and lead implementation of products/services

The Essentials

3-5 years of experience in Data Warehousing tools such as Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake, Oracle, and/or SQL, Informatica, Python.

3+ years of experience with various Business Intelligence reporting tools (Tableau, Microstrategy, Business Objects).

Strong SQL and data analysis knowledge

Experience with AWS Tools/Technologies: Amazon Redshift, Scala, Spark, Airflow

Managing and providing data mining and data modeling solutions

Practical experience implementing health and performance monitoring for systems and applications in an Enterprise Production environment

Practical application of the software development Life Cycle (SDLC), with industry standard best practice methodologies

Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, CI/CD, Automation testing

Experience in Agile/Scrum based environment

Experience in leading process change and implementing best practices associated with system implementation, replacement, and major enhancement

Solid understanding of Master Data Management

Experience with Entertainment & Media – Supply Chain and Category Management a plus.
