The Sr. Building Engineer utilizes advanced skills to perform complex preventative maintenance and corrective repair of building systems management. In day to day duties, utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing and heating and cooling along with strong knowledge of energy management systems, chillers, and generators. Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
In this role, you will Inspect and monitor energy management systems including chiller, HVAC, and generators to ensure operation of equipment achieves environmental conditions required. Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors for both demand repairs and contracted maintenance including scoping, bidding, and performance management to ensure quality and appropriate costs. Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventative maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required. Handles emergency situations quickly and calmly. Works under limited supervision, monitors building systems operation and performance.
The Sr. Building Engineer Professionally responds to employee, tenant and service and repair requests at the Best Buy corporate campus estimating time and materials accurately. Effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all HVAC and MEP equipment at the facility. Perform maintenance work as required. This role must be able to analyze and solve complex problems and deal with a variety of variables in a situation where limited standardization and supervision exists. The role requires strong communication skills with the ability to present information to internal departments, external vendors or group of employees. This role is SME on the energy management system, HVAC, and generators providing direction to others when it relates to these systems.
Provide a safe and comfortable work environment to the employees and tenants in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Operate HVAC, MEP and lighting equipment within the guidelines set forth by the engineering manager to assure proper building functions.
Perform general maintenance per preventive maintenance procedures keeping accurate up-to-date records.
Perform chemical analysis tests on the condenser and chiller water loops reporting any abnormalities to the engineering manager.
Maintain superior appearance and working condition of all the MEP systems throughout the building.
Respond to emergency situations in calm and quick manner. Act as member of the Emergency Response Team. Required on call rotation to respond to emergencies after hours and on weekends.
