Process Engineering Intern
Sparton is providing an exciting opportunity for a student to gain real-world experience and invaluable skills working directly with a diverse team of test and product engineers. Sparton encourages mentorship with seasoned engineers by working in small teams to solve problems, exploring new technologies and collaborating with other departments. This is a paid position with flexible hours. Position would start in May of 2020 and continue full time in summer of 2020. Position could continue to be part time once school starts in the fall of 2020 through 2021.
Basic Purpose of Position: Works under supervision on process engineering and machine maintenance tasks related to business goals while pursuing degree.
Primary or Major Responsibilities
Mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, spatial reasoning, and diligence in finding the best solution for each process and maintenance challenge.
Supports process technicians and engineers in day to day operation and programming of production equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities on production equipment to ensure safety, product manufacturability, capacity, quality, and efficiency.
Works with process engineers to develop and fabricate fixtures used to produce electronic assemblies.
Ability to create and manage projects with support from engineering and maintenance technicians.
Propose improvement projects. Support continuous improvement culture and activities.
Perform other duties related to business goals and projects as assigned.
Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.
Must be working to obtain degree from a university or technical school in engineering, robotics, electronics/electronic systems, manufacturing, or related discipline.
Must be a US citizen.
