Software Application Engineer

The Software Application Engineer will support the customer’s integration of our Battery Management Systems into their unique applications. The SW Application Engineer will provide on-site expertise, calibration, and debugging capabilities to our customers on-site. Investigate and root cause field issues in-house using HiL and other lab equipment. Gain system knowledge in validation and testing of Battery Management System software for electrified transportation and industrial applications. The Software Application Engineer will support the team members with all phases of software development projects and initiatives.
Lead the investigation of application / integration issues in the field on-site and/or remotely.
Characterize customer variants by collecting data on customer applications as well as on the HiL and in high voltage lab environments and generate calibration sets from that data.
Support the Systems team with DFMEA and DRBFM work as part of new project activities.
Be responsible for leading the XALT Problem Management Process by performing investigations, executing 8Ds, and supporting SW changes required to rectify field issues in a timely manner.
Be responsible for SW variant management by tracking customer applications and building a library of SW configurations to support them.
Collaborate with the cell development team to create calibration sets for new cells.
Support company goals and initiatives related to industry standards for safety and quality (Ex. ISO26262, IEC61508, QS9003, and others)
Learn the XALT SW development process and workflow and strive to maintain those guidelines.
B.S. in one of the following:
Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Controls Engineering.
The candidate is preferred to have 3 years of experience with hands-on vehicle integration of, “Automotive Quality” embedded systems.
Experience debugging Automotive Embedded Systems, preferably Energy Storage Systems or Electrified Powertrains.
Hands-on experience with field and lab equipment; Examples include multimeters, high voltage test equipment, oscilloscopes, function generators, or logic analyzers.
Competency in reading C-Code, Autogenerated C-Code, and MATLAB / Simulink Models
Demonstrate ability to understand complex electronic and mechanical systems
Experience working with Vector Tools; CANanalyzer, CANoe, CAPL, CDM Studio, etc.
Experience working with IBM / Rational DOORs Requirement Management Software.
Exposure to Energy Storage Systems /Cyclers is a plus.
Experience with creating calibration sets using Vector CDM Studio.
Possess excellent written and oral communication as well as interpersonal and presentation skills.
Experience with statistical analysis of data in order to establish pass/fail criteria.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Sharepoint
