Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for the oversight of design, maintenance and construction services for all Fifth District offices.
Responsible for the development of mechanical engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, preliminary designs and construction feasibility analysis associated with initial development and budgeting of facilities projects to ensure seamless project integration and construction.
Knowledge and Skills:
Broad and deep technical knowledge of ASHRAE, International Mechanical Code (IMC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
Broad and deep technical knowledge of and ability to read construction drawings and specifications
Demonstrated experience in commercial building HVAC, plumbing, piping and mechanical system design
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
Strong team leadership and outstanding interpersonal skill with ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Excellent analyzing, planning, and problem solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience with work scheduling techniques, tools, and software
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with various other online applications, as needed for the role
Leads the development and creation of detailed designs, drawings, and specification for equipment and construction contracts
Finalizes cost and scheduling estimates and oversees planning and coordination of facilities projects
Selects design consultants, vendors and construction contractors for each building project
Coordinates with external firms to develop design criteria and prepare layout and detailed drawings; responsible for code oversight relating to mechanical aspects of operations and construction
Oversees commissioning process of all District heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC); responsible for retro commissioning activities related to building automation and mechanical systems
Provides technical evaluation of ongoing maintenance and engineering operations to ensure efficiency and continuity, including evaluation of analytics and identification of mechanical issues from control systems
Provides ongoing evaluation of all existing District Mechanical Systems and backup systems, including coordination of preventive maintenance
Creates and maintains energy usage reports to monitor and ensure all systems are operating at maximum efficiency, effectiveness and continuity
Prepares action plans and implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards by identifying trends and system improvement opportunities
Develops design guidelines and standard operating procedures for HVAC/plumbing related equipment
Provides technical expertise and project management to other groups, as assigned

Education and Experience:
9+ years of relevant work experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; PMP or ability to obtain PMP certification preferred
Position requires continuous visual concentration and manual dexterity to operate PC
Minor lifting and carrying, not likely to exceed ten pounds
May require extended work hours
Occasional travel including overnight stays may be necessary
