Title: Packaging Engineer
Location: West Warwick, RI

Responsible for the technical transfer of products out of the New Product Development and R&D stages into production including the execution of product trials. This position is the main liaison with Operations for launch of new products and issue resolution for existing products where packaging or formulation design is the cause. Create and develop effective packaging designs that are functional, cost effective, and fit a project’s brief. This involves generating ideas and concepts, testing different designs, working with internal teams during the manufacturing process, and reviewing the efficiency of the final packaging.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Launch Project Management
Project Management responsibility for new product trials to ensure all functional partners are aligned and coordinated
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of product trial projects
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
Drive project decision making
Report and escalate to management as needed
Manage the relationship with all stakeholders
Perform risk management to minimize project risks
Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
Perform and document lessons learned from new product trials and provide findings to Product Delivery Project Managers responsible for those products under development
Responsible for ensuring master data for new products have been reviewed and approved before product launch
Research, develop and release various packaging specifications in coordination with finished products and materials used and ensure compatibility of packaging with manufacturing unit
Provide technical support to all engineering and provide support to manufacturing and implementation processes of product packaging
Documents all packaging engineering protocols and develop all engineering and manufacturing specification and ensure compliance to all FDA and ISO regulations
Analyze and provide support to all activities to achieve all marketing objectives and assist to launch new products and reduce cost of production
Review all new technology and prepare design to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure effective transition of all designs into design process
Project manage artwork release, proofing, pre-press and production to maintain Bradford required production timing
Review, Quote and Coordinate bar soap tooling costing, design and implementation.
Work with production to draft specifications for bar soap tooling.
Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
Use and continually develop leadership skills
Additional duties, projects and tasks as assigned
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
ArtiosCAD, Cape, Solidworks, and Adobe Illustrator experience
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must be fluent in English
Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects
Able to work in a team atmosphere with multiple departments
Must be able to adapt to constant change
Capable of functioning with minimal supervision
Previous working experience in project management preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Strong prepress, flexo and offset printing background preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This is a salaried position.
Walking to multiple buildings is required
Some lifting will be required up to 40lbs
