SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Inovonics is looking for a talented mechanical engineer /designer to assist in new product development and sustaining efforts in a dynamic engineering environment. This individual will work closely with all levels of engineering and manufacturing personnel to design, test and document mechanical designs. Good communication skills and team orientation are essential. As a primary mechanical technical lead in new product development, they will ensure a high quality product and safety for the design and manufacturability of mechanical parts. Serves as a support for technical issues for manufacturing and the upkeep of all mechanical documentation

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops mechanical designs for new wireless product enclosures and application. Able to conceptualize and create mechanical concepts using SolidWorks, hand built models, 3D printer prototypes and drawings for new products.
Evaluates design performance through analysis and testing.
Conceptual and detail design including checking of design layouts and tolerance analysis.
Works with manufactures to develop and implement detailed design.
Works with vendors to ensure proper manufacturing of components or assemblies.
Works with product management, engineering and operations team members for successful project completion.
Completes regulatory testing to requirements and verification testing for custom parts.
Drives good team decision making processes through supporting and applying appropriate information at critical points in the product development process.
Ensures the formal product development process, documentation and schedule are met for new product development projects.
Assists in quality issues from the field and within manufacturing, and is able to analyze and provide data driven testing methods, and root cause to support findings.
Responsible for all mechanical parts on BOM for accuracy and complete documentation. Maintains all mechanical parts and documentation. Knowledge of ECO processes is essential.
Maintains product and company standing by complying with government regulations.
Maintains job skills and education in applicable areas of engineering.
Travel may be required to meet with contract manufactured and suppliers.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Design mechanical models and assemblies using SolidWorks. Highly proficient with all SolidWorks models, assembly, PDM and drawings. SolidWorks simulation and surfacing is a plus.
Detail/Process oriented, organized and reliable.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Able to listen and apply appropriate skills for the desired team results.
Injection molding part design is essential. Understanding of all part design rules including over molding, along with basic tooling design knowledge. Secondary processes such as ultrasonic welding, pad printing and laser etching is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to design to product requirements and develop a high level design and a work breakdown to track progress.
Working knowledge of metal stamping, battery contacts and electronic PCB construction.
Knowledge and/or training in Lean product development is a plus.
Knowledge with battery operated devices.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Associate of Science in a related area.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years proven experience working in mechanical design and new product development.
