NuScale Power Inc. is growing rapidly and seeks talented professionals with experience in nuclear power, electrical generation and utility operations. NuScale Power, based in Corvallis, Oregon, is designing a Scalable Modular Light Water Reactor power plant for deployment in the United States and is currently accepting applications for a Nuclear Mechanical Stress & Seismic Analysis Engineer.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Mechanical Stress & Seismic Analyssis Engineer will be a member of the NuScale Power, Inc. Reactor Systems group. The Reactor Systems Group generates the technical requirements for the modular ALWR nuclear steam supply system. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, the Reactor Systems group specifies the design parameters associated with the reactor vessel, pressurizer, steam generator, reactor vessel internals, and associated connecting piping in addition to providing the supporting applied mechanics analyses (encompassing both fluid and solid mechanics) in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III and ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code. All of the work within the Reactor Systems group is completed under the ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and the respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare engineering specification requirements for the modular ALWR nuclear steam supply system
2. Perform engineering calculations for power system components and technical requirements for ALWR nuclear steam supply system
3. Develop design parameters associated with the reactor vessel pressurizer, steam generator, reactor vessel internals
4. Perform supporting applied mechanics analyses
5. Perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:
Education: MS/PhD ME or Engineering Sciences $ Mechanics from an ABET accredited US University.
Experience: 5+ years experience in stress, vibration, and seismic analysis of NSSS pressure vessels. 5 15 years experience in the analysis of nuclear piping (subsection NB).
Overall Job Knowledge and Performance: Proficiency with ASME B&PV Code, Section III and/or ASME B31.1 analysis methodologies. Proficiency in FEA Codes (ANSYS or ABACUS) including both linear and non-linear techniques. Familiarity in the thermal-hydraulic analysis of nuclear power plant systems.
Skills: Proficient in MS Office Products and PTC Mathcad. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal Skills: Able to work independently and in a team environment and to work extended hours and travel as required.
