The Data Architect will develop ‘data as a product’ solutions to meet CCA’s business needs. Working closely with the business and application teams including BI, the Data Architect will analyze and translate CCA business needs into appropriate data deliverables, and design and develop solutions for Master, Reference and Transaction data to create single versions of the truth. The candidate will oversee creation of data models, data flow diagrams, data mappings, and data dictionaries and will maintain all data artifacts. Data Architect will also assist in issue resolution, in operationalizing Data Governance, in assessing, measuring and tracking data quality issues, in creating and maintaining data SOP’s, standards and guidelines, and control processes for audits. S/he will represent and socialize data program within the broader CCA business community.
Will provide mentoring to junior members of the team, but may not have direct reports.
Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for both relational and dimensional solutions. Models will include entities, attributes, their inter-relationships and dependencies in 3N and/or dimensional formats.
Integrate disparate data models into coherent enterprise and/or LoB data models.
Forward engineer physical models to create DDL scripts to implement new databases or database changes. Reverse engineer databases and synchronize data models with actual data implementations.
Create data dictionaries and business glossaries to document data lineages, data definitions and metadata for all business-critical data domains.
Identify and reconcile inconsistencies in data definitions, e.g., synonyms and homonyms.
Work with business stakeholders to identify critical data (entities and attributes) and capture how data is interpreted by users in various parts of the organization.
Capture business rules that govern how data is transformed, integrated, and used.
Draft and communicate MDM and ESB-based future data integration strategy and vision.
Help achieve LoB as well as executive buy-in for Data Management initiatives.
Implement data quality management processes.
Identify data quality metrics and guide processes that track and measure data quality continually.
Help identify and design solutions that allow performing root cause analysis to enable proactive issue resolution and data quality maintenance.
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other data related field
Advanced degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science a plus
8+ years of experience as Data Modeler /Data Architect creating data models and working in Data Architecture and Data Management solutions.
Must have Healthcare (Payer, Care Provider) background
Knowledge of HC Industry trends such as ACO, HIX, HIE and HC industry solution models (HL7, HIPAA) a definite plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Mid level IT resource with broad understanding of Data Architecture and Data Management approaches and implementation methodologies
Ability to work with business as well as IT stakeholders
Minimum of 7 years of experience designing large scale data models for functional, operational and analytical environments
Demonstrated experience in Conceptual, Logical, Physical and Dimensional Modeling
Hands-on experience with data modeling tools such as, ER*Studio and Erwin
Knowledge of BI tools, such as Tableau
Working knowledge of Talend ETL and other utilities such as, MDM a definite plus
Experience with Agile/Scrum is valuable
Ability to work creatively and analytically in a team environment
