The Senior Data Governance Developer specializes in ensuring enterprise data is well defined & structured with high quality and availability. This position helps establish trusted data sources and ensures the right controls are built around the flow of data through the organization.
Responsible for SQL Database Development.
Establish templates and work with data stewards and technical SME’s to capture and maintain sound business glossary, data dictionary and data lineage.
Coordinate & participate in data governance working groups to establish “trusted” data sources, research data & process issues and come up with recommendations for the data governance committee to review.
Work with data stewards and technology to identify, develop and monitor comprehensive data quality and integrity rules and alerts for key metrics and critical data elements. Develop, implement, and optimize SQL queries. Review and troubleshoot database related issues. Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements
Support the Data Governance lead with identifying, collecting and reporting of key Data Governance metrics and creating the monthly decks for the committee review. This will involve working with business and technology SME’s to collect agreed metrics and status on ongoing data initiatives.
Developing and implementing data standards, policies and procedures.
Coordinate, collaborate and innovate with IT & Business Portfolios to ensure sound alignment with enterprise data needs and upfront metadata capture.
Provide oversight of data capture, load and reporting processes with periodic reviews and recommendations for improved standards and controls.
Create training materials to help data consumers come up to speed on data landscape and data governance.
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in I.T., business, finance, science or engineering. Experience may be substituted for degree.
Experience as a data governance analyst, or in a data quality management role.
Minimum 4 years of experience in Data Governance or related with SQL Database Development, TSQL, and Stored Procedures (must be able to code SQL).
Experience understanding data models logical and physical, data architecture and ETL process.
Defines, prepares, executes, and implements data validation and unit testing methods to ensure data quality.
Principal developer in the areas of development lifecycle; including understanding business needs, solution design, logical design, translation to physical design, and code development, and testing.
Experience with metadata management and/or data quality tools & tracking a plus.
Experience with reporting & data visualization tools a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience with financial processes and systems strongly preferred
Ability to translate business data issues into solutions to meet multiple business needs; Strong analytical, problem solving, and process management skills.
Ability to multi-task, take initiative in solving problems, and work effectively with variety of people and work styles.
Ability to operationalize data governance policy work and/or formal data lifecycle management processes
Proven ability to be proactive, possess flexible attitude, willingness to learn new skills; ability to accept ambiguity
Solid analytical, problem solving, and trouble-shooting skills.
