WFL Millturn Centers are used by the aerospace, energy, printing, crankshaft, oil/gas and engineering industry to machine the most demanding workpieces.

At our U.S. operations in Wixom, MI, we are hiring:

Experienced Field Service Engineers, for installation, startup, trouble-shooting, repair and maintenance of WFL Millturn Machines at customer sites in North America. Residency near Wixom, MI, is required.

Hard Skills

  • Strong mechanical skills, including hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and coolant systems
  • Capable to read and understand technical drawings, schematics and diagrams
  • Knowledge in machine control and interface diagnostics
  • Experience with 840D control system

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Majority of candidates time will be spent working at customer sites across the US, Canada and occasionally Mexico
  • Provide troubleshooting for mechanical & electrical repair of machines over the phone and in person at customer sites
  • Analyze complex electrical and mechanical machine components for failure modes
  • Resolve electrical and machine controls issues
  • Repair and rebuild mechanical assemblies
  • Verify and reset machine geometry
  • Provide training to customer personnel in machine operation, trouble-shooting and repair
  • Support spare part requests through Aftermarket Sales Organization
  • Thoroughly document repairs on service activity report

Soft Skills

  • Must have excellent planning skills and be able to manage time efficiently
  • Must be able to request and present information through spoken or written word and to communicate effectively with external and internal customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in conditions of a typical industrial plant environment, which could be hot, cold, noisy and dusty
  • Ability to travel extensively within the Continental U.S., Canada and Mexico, with occasional international travel to Austria on assignment length ranging from one day to several weeks
  • Work weekends and holidays as necessary, with some extended hours required due to customer requirements
  • Ability to handle schedule changes when required to comply with customer’s requirements

Experience and Abilities

  • Knowledge and ability to set up and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Competent understanding of electrical wiring, troubleshooting and instrumentation
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, as well as electrical and fluid power diagrams
  • Ability to navigate through HMI equipment
  • Customer-directed and service oriented
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to think logically and critically
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Valid US passport (required for Government related facility access)

Educational Requirements

  • Three-year technical degree or five year work experience servicing CNC machine tools

Language Skills

  • English, verbal and written
  • German or Spanish as second language are a plus, but not mandatory
