BMT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support US Navy R&D environmental clients. Candidates must have “hands on” work experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical-mechanical systems, marine equipment and application of engineering standards to ship operations. Candidate must have excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills and be successful working well both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary project team. Dependability, problem solving, and professional work ethic are important. This is a contract position subject to funding with an expected start date of August 19, 2019. Responsibilities may include:
Hands-on testing and evaluation of shipboard systems and equipment;
Conducting engineering evaluations and writing environmental compliance assessments
Candidate must be a US citizen with a DOD security clearance or employment is contingent upon obtaining a security clearance.
Work Location: Bethesda, MD
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum 5 years’ experience working with mechanical systems and equipment required
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the maritime industry strongly preferred
Minimum 3 years’ field operations experience working with and troubleshooting with complex mechanical systems, equipment, and system integration issues preferred
Minimum 3 years’ experience providing technical guidance and assessing mechanical operating systems and equipment preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills required
Provide high caliber client service by anticipating client needs, investigating and resolving problems and the ability to successfully work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams is required
Self-starter, proactive professional interested in contributing to individual and team growth
