This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Your specific duties as an Emissions Engineer will include:
The CES engineering facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin (approx. 20 miles South of Madison) is looking for an individual to fill a nine-month contingent position in the facility’s Catalyst Lab.
The Catalyst Lab uses five custom-built reactors to assess the catalytic functions of diesel oxidation catalysts, selective catalytic reduction catalysts, and other catalysts used in diesel- and natural gas-fueled commercial equipment.
A successful candidate will help the engineering and technician staffs to prepare by 1 and 1 by 3 specimen cores, to design tests measuring key functions of the catalyst, to interpret the results of tests, and to report results and conclusions to its internal customers.
As an Emissions Engineer, you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
BS plus five years relevant experience, MS plus 2 years relevant experience, or Ph.D. plus one year’s relevant experience in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a Mechanical Engineering program including engine combustion & emissions.
Demonstrated familiarity with the concepts of heterogeneous catalysis in aftertreatment and with the primary functions of the diesel oxidation (DOC), ammonia slip (ASC), and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts used in exhaust aftertreatment systems.
Demonstrated ability to develop core reactor test protocols characterizing DOC, SCR, and ASC function, to prepare and perform tests, to interpret and report the results of tests.
Ability to interpret BET and EDS results as part of the diagnostic study of a catalyst.
Demonstrated experience assessing and controlling laboratory safety risks, ability to troubleshoot reactor problems, to replace tubing and fittings on existing custom reactors, to load and unload 1 by 3 cores, to swap gas cylinders, to operate existing LabVIEW control programs.
Additional information from the manager:
This is a Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day position. Manager shared there is flexibility on the start/end times for this role.
When the manager is ready to interview, he will be requesting phone screens. Candidates whom are local to this opportunity and asked to interview will have the opportunity to visit and see the lab if they want.
