Support and lead the engineering and quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices, to assure the company of continuous improvement, conformance and effectiveness. Document control manager, quality auditor, process improvement leader/specialist and manager of Manufacturing Engineer(s).
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for the product design, development, administration and coordination of the manufacturing policies and practices designed to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays, improve quality, and otherwise promote cost improvement and process control for all of manufacturing.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
General function is to provide manufacturing process support to production and actively participate in the development process of new products.
Designs and drafts all production parts and required machine tooling
Defines manufacturing process and methods optimized for quality and cost per plant production capabilities
Provide manufacturing cost savings suggestions and implementation
Responsible for the technical implementation of lean manufacturing within your responsible areas
Design fixturing and/or tooling to improve machine operations
Help plan work assignments, considering worker performance, machine capacity, and production schedules
Work to establish standard production rates for operation of equipment
Capital equipment justifications for performance and product improvement
Review schedules and improve efficiencies
Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Formal training in Mechanical technology or equivalent experience. Process, set-up operations expertise, teaming skills, disciplines of problem solving, documentation background (prints, instructions, etc.), lean manufacturing techniques, quick changeovers (SMED) and process characterization and optimization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate computer and keyboard; experience CAD design tools; able to use phone; sit for long periods; communicate using speech, hearing and vision skills.
