Role: Project Engineer Aerospace
Location: Bloomfield, CT
The individual will manage assigned Aerospace and Imaging composites projects to include the hands-on design, process engineering and management of the project through final manufacturing. Supports all aspects of structural design involving the use of finite element analysis models and ensures that the structure designs and models are developed accordingly and tested under specified test condition. The individual may be assigned process engineering related projects which are not product specific, but focus on processes and/or equipment development or improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Completes hands-on design and process engineering of assigned aerospace and imaging projects
Supports all aspects of structural design involving the use of finite element analysis models and esnures that the structure designs and models are developed accordingly and tested under specified test condition.
Manages assigned projects from conception to production by interfacing with the customer on design, development, engineering and technical customer contact related issues including drawings, manufacturing instructions, bill of materials, bill of operations and other items necessary to produce a high quality product.
Models and creates drawings using 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Catia) for aerospace and imaging components.
Develops or assists in tooling conceptualization and design process.
Develops Bills of Material and Operational Instructions for the manufacture of components.
Interfaces with assigned program management team consisting of program manager, program coordinator and other engineers.
Plans, executes and manages testing as required.
Maintains relationships with key composite vendors.
Participates in company continuous improvement initiatives.
Assists in training appropriate staff to perform job functions.
Provides technical support to vendors and manufacturing teams.
Completes other tasks as assigned by manager.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors of Science degree in an Engineering field- Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials or Structures.
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Project Management Certification a Plus
