Coatings Process Engineer


Ability to operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and improve decorative nickel chrome, copper (acid and alkaline), and woods nickel plating processes.
Ability to operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and improve powder coating processes.
Ability to operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and improve alkaline zinc and zinc nickel plating processes.
Ability to operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and improve decorative ecoat processes.
Ability to operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and improve architectural anodizing processes.
Design, develop and implement process improvements for all finishing systems
Autocad or equivalent CAD tools for layout and rack design
Strong problem solving and testing skills in applied coatings lab chemistry.
Ability to plan and coordinate technical design and implementation of finishing systems
Work with coatings lab technicians, maintenance technicians, process and manufacturing engineering and rack manufacturers in a collaborative team environment
Ability to run, troubleshoot and train on coatings lab equipment
Read, understand and maintain work instructions for process, lab, and support.
Project management from concept identification, design, build and final life cycle support.
Understand plant FESOP and WWT permits

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory,

Problem solving, innovative thinking skills, and applied technical research skills.
Strong communication, people skills, and experience.
Bias for action and result oriented.
Strong fundamental understanding of plating and anodizing chemistry and processes
Ability to work with and utilize lab instrumentation including Xray, ICP, UVis, and benchtop titrators.
Strong business acumen with the ability to drive process improvements.
Strong decorative finishing background with fundamental understanding of how to operate a capable process using control limits and specification limits using Truechem (or equivalent) software
Knowledge of relevant technical designs, specifications and standards.
Knowledge of quality control and EHS including hazard communication and WWT.
CEF certified or ability to pass within 12 months on the job
Ability to manage projects to critical path timelines
Candidate will be expected to stay current on trends and technology in finishing

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Chemistry.
Min of 5 years of strong Finishing Engineering related experience (8 min with associates).
Proven track record in controlling, improving and implementing multiple finishing processes
Knowledge of relevant OSHA and EPA laws and regulations.
Strongly prefer and preference will be given to candidate with architectural anodizing experience
