Job Summary:
The High School Engineer is directly responsible to the High School Head Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor in operating all of the mechanical equipment of the building. The Engineer works different shifts as needed, carries out duties as assigned and assists in every way possible in maintaining the building.
Job Responsibilities:
Operates high pressure steam boiler, centrifugal chillers for air conditioning and ventilation systems.
Maintains school equipment and facilities.
Tests water in boilers and pool water treatment.
Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of high pressure steam boilers, fans, air washers, traps, valves, pumps, and other power plant equipment, including air conditioning equipment.
Experience operating centrifugal chillers
Knowledge of electrical equipment and plumbing.
Experience operating energy management systems, preferably METASYS.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the necessary safety precautions in power plant operations.
Ability to lift materials over 50lbs., climb ladders, and crawl in tunnels.
Ability to perform physical labor for long hours while standing.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work effectively with staff, students and public.
Some experience in operating, maintaining and repairing power plant equipment.
High Pressure Boiler Operator's License required.
3rd Class Refrigeration License preferred.
Work Year:
$18.09 - $22.22/Hour; Twelve (12) month work year (Can receive up to .73 additional for credit hours)
