Practical experience in solid mechanics and fluid mechanics, advanced background in FEA and CFD.
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
Identify the nature of fluid flow, thermal, thermoelastic, and tribological phenomena occurring in wet multidisk clutches and brakes. Determine viability of computational models, exploit existing and develop new models. Critically evaluate limitations and reliability of the models, plan and perform experimental tests for validation. Prepare input data for analysis using design data, material properties, and information about operating conditions. Perform case studies, parametric studies, and optimization. Provide interpretation of computational results. Based on analyses, recommend friction materials, recommend changes of assembly design, including groove pattern, changes in clutch/brake design, and changes in clutch/brake control.
Practical knowledge of at least one of the major commercial FEA and CFD packages. Knowledge of programming languages used in advanced engineering modeling: C (++) or Fortran; Matlab; Python.
