The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.
This position is funded through September 30, 2024, with federal stimulus funds. Continuation of the position beyond that date is contingent upon available funding. This federally funded position will provide critical support for the agency to urgently address student learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The .NET Developer performs advanced analysis and programming work involving all technical aspects of supporting, improving, and enhancing reports for IT projects. This position requires strong form development skills using a low-code form development platform, and C#/.NET Core skills to be able to develop custom integrations with existing TEA system. We are seeking a proactive team member who will be responsible for enhancing the assigned application and solving production issues. Work assignments follow a defined software development life cycle (SDLC) process using an Agile-like approach for completing code changes for defined releases. The .NET Developer works across multiple agency stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and efficacy of created reports, ultimately in the service of Texas’s 1200 school districts.

Application Development Best Practices: Develop database, software or reports components, ensuring they adhere to TEA and industry standards, best practices, and customer requirements. Perform testing to verify that the product matches the requirements, including the creation of test data, test cases and test scripts.
Technical Skill: Perform technical analysis on existing defects or proposed enhancements to increase efficiency or to adapt to new procedures. Identify root cause and solution for complex problems
Team Contribution: Collaborate with the project team for sprint/release work on tasks such as providing development effort estimates, discussing architecture and design, triage and resolving defects or issues in multiple environments and providing status on work assignments or issues; Prepare and maintain technical documentation as required (i.e., process flows, object or data models, project plans, environment diagrams, test plans, etc.).
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
Experience: At least four  years of experience in Online Form Development
Substitutions: Each additional year of related experience above the required minimum may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
Knowledge of current software development best practices and technologies and how they can be applied to create high quality, high-performing applications.
Highly skilled in designing, developing, and supporting online forms using a low-code form development platform.
Proven technical expertise with C# (with .NET CORE) working in a team environment.
Proficient in databases and SQL
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Adept in technical design and implement code solutions.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines.
Ability to work with other IT staff to recommend standards, guidelines, and new processes.
Experience in communicating well to express ideas, thoughts, and direction to a diverse audience.
Must be available some nights and weekends for supporting code deployments and application support.
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment.
A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve.
Previous experience in Crystal Reports or other reports development is preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a cube environment with potential for significant auditory distractions.
