We have an immediate need for an Engineer in New York, NY.
As an Engineer I, you will be involved in the following:
Perform energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1 through investment grade), retro-commissioning and commissioning for clients in the commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education and municipal/county government sectors.
Perform calculations of annual energy/cost savings and greenhouse gas reductions for identified energy projects. Develop budget quality project cost estimates. Perform life cycle cost analysis.
Work with the Project Manager to support the development, coordination, and execution of the design phase, construction phase, testing/training phase, warranty phase commissioning activities, final commissioning report.
Support and coordinate Cx meetings with owner, operating staff, design and construction personnel to understand the project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning process is properly coordinated.
Prepare commissioning plans, specifications and checklists (pre-functional and functional) in accordance with ASHRAE Standard 202-2013 and ASHRAE Guideline 0-2013.
Review design, equipment submittals, O&M manuals, start-up reports, checklists, TAB reports, as-builts, and training programs for overall compliance with owner’s project requirements, commissioning plans, and the contracted scope of work.
Perform site visits to coordinate commissioning, witness equipment start-up, direct and perform testing, and coordinate training.
Support the project issues database to document non-compliant conditions. Work to achieve issue close-out with owner, O&M, design and construction personnel.
Perform feasibility studies of renewable and energy efficiency technologies including (but not limited to) photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, micro-cogeneration systems (fuel cells and microturbines), conventional cogeneration systems (reciprocating engine and gas turbine), geothermal heat pump retrofits, biomass systems, thermal storage systems, air-to-air energy recovery systems, condensing flue gas heat exchangers, and backpressure turbines.
Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases.
Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Facilities Engineering. A combined work experience in facility management and construction may be substituted for bachelors of engineering degree.
Experience / Qualifications
2+ years’ experience in the some of the following areas: Energy auditing, retro-commissioning, commissioning, and technical feasibility study experience including development of project cost estimates, annual energy/cost savings calculations, and life cycle cost analysis.
Experience with operation and/or design and/or construction of HVAC systems, boilers and steam systems, chilled water plants and pumping systems, compressed air systems, electrical systems, cogeneration plants, and building controls / energy management systems.
Experience with field testing equipment (balometers, anemometers, ultrasonic flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others) a plus.
Experience with electronic Cx platforms such as CxAlloy, Facility Grid or Building Test a plus.
Experience with BIM Modeling, AutoCAD, and scheduling tools a plus.
Knowledge of energy modeling software desirable (such as DOE2, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, eQuest).
Must be proficient in Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships.
