JOB SUMMARY:
We are an industry leader in the design and development of Aluminum Fish and Recreational Boats. We are seeking a candidate with 1-5 years’ experience in product design and development. Responsible candidate will lead the design process for Boat designs from components, systems, assemblies, & master model architecture from concept to production following the product development process and timeline. The successful candidate will have 1 - 5 years mechanical engineering or similar field experience, using 3D modelling tools such as Solidworks, and/or other 3D modeling tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES:
Participate in all phases of new product development, especially Concept Development, Design Validation and Production Process Validation.
Coordinate efforts as necessary between Product Development & Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Quality & suppliers.
Design prototype parts and assemblies using 3D CAD (Solid Works)
Support the development of fabrication/assembly fixtures and tools.
Create, organize & update CAD part drawings and manufacturing documentation for boats; review drawings for accuracy and compliance to set engineering standards and gather as-built information to ensure accuracy.
Assist in the development of material specifications for parts
Work closely with other Product Development and Engineering personnel to establish, update and manage Bills of Material.
Participate in the Engineering Change Request/Notification (ECR/ECN) process as needed, including writing ECR’s and approving.
Contribute and Lead problem solving activities and cost reduction tasks
Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to achieve desired assembly process improvements, cost savings objectives and provide cost savings alternatives.
Support & Lead engineering continuous improvement initiatives
Provide project teams with cost tracking to established target cost throughout the product development cycle.
Create preliminary concept models with 2D & 3D representations utilizing Solid Works 3D modeling tools.

Education/Training:
Preferred 1-5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Technical degree with equivalent experience is required.

Experience and Skills:
Basic understanding of metal fabrication tools and processes
Knowledge of GD&T print documentation
The individual would be strong in 3D modeling and problem solving
Must have good written and verbal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Strong accurate analytical problem-solving skills.
Individual must be self-motivated and capable of working in a team or individual non-supervised environment.
Basic knowledge of the products produced as well as design and manufacturing processes.
Must have a working knowledge of a Bill of Material, its development and application.
Ability to independently analyze risk, make recommendations to the appropriate authority and when solicited make decisions.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Proficient working with Solidworks and/or other solid modeling CAD systems
Understanding of DFMA tools and software a benefit.
Less than 15% travel to be expected in a year.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see, sit, and use arms, hands and fingers to key and maneuver a mouse on a PC system. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, balance, and use arms and hands to reach, pull, push, clasp and move a variety of materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The noise level in the office work environment is low to moderate.

The employee will frequently be exposed to a heavy manufacturing work environment that includes high noise level and exposure to chemical vapors, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, vibration and electricity. Eye and ear protection, as well as steel toed shoes, are required at all times in the manufacturing environment. Hard hats may be required in certain areas of the work environment. Particle masks, gloves, wrist braces, aprons, back support, ear protection, etc., are available for use.
