Work-Site Developer - Work Based Learning

The Work-based Learning Program Coordinator will create opportunities for Sinclair students to engage in work-based learning opportunities with local, regional, and national business and industry organizations through community outreach. This individual will engage with employers and business partners to further develop relationships and connect employers with students and Sinclair education programs that meet the workforce needs. The Program Coordinator will promote all work-based learning career programs and engage employers and students to participate in experiential learning opportunities.

Principal Accountabilities
Collaborate with employers to create work-based learning opportunities with a key focus around apprenticeships and internships, in a variety of fields and academic disciplines that meet requirements of the academic programs
Communicate workforce trends and opportunities to faculty and staff to encourage alignment of curriculum and prepare interns and students for current market demands
Engage employers directly to promote programs and ensure industry needs are aligned and expectations are being met ** Assess the needs of industry partners to promote various approaches to work-based learning programs, incumbent training and on-site delivery of academic programs
Meet with local employers to ascertain current industry trends and in-demand careers that align with Sinclair academic programs
Develop new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding work-based learning opportunities for students
Work in partnership with Apprenticeship Coordinator(s) to help expand apprenticeship opportunities throughout the regional area
Develop a continuous working relationship with employers & agencies, and refer suitable student applicants to them for field experience and job placement
Actively recruit new employers/businesses for fairs, classroom presentations, and workshops
Work as part of a team to organize, publicize, and facilitate career events such as job and internship fairs, campus orientations, etc.
Collaborate and coordinate student connections for internship opportunities with the Work-Based Learning Coach
Work one-on-one with students seeking an internship or other related work-based learning experience
Manage student relationships through databases, and when transitioning the student from the Work-based Learning Coach
Manage and track work-site agreement forms needed to register a student’s internship
Promote the opportunities and value of the work-based learning through classroom presentations, meetings with student groups, orientations, and workshops
Participate in department and college committees or activities
Addresses all issues and concerns that arise in apprenticeship/internship connections
Represent the department at professional associations to promote the objectives of the college and the department
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of three years of working experience in a college career services office, corporate recruiting, staffing, business development, consultative business experience, sales or related field required
Experience with development, implementation, and/or assessment of career services or internship programming preferred
Knowledge of career development theories, careers and employment trends, and job search techniques preferred
Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with prospects and existing partner employers, and ability to collaborate on business strategy and rapidly build trust and credibility preferred
Excellent persuasive consultative selling skills preferred
Previous working knowledge of web-based content delivery, information exchange, and database tracking systems preferred
Prior experience working with Dayton and Cincinnati region business and organizations preferred
Excellent listening, writing, and oral communication skills required
Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously required
Ability to work occasional evening hours and weekend special events required
Must have a valid driver’s license required
