Danfoss is looking for a Controls Engineer Intern to join us at our Ames, Iowa location in the US. The Controls Engineer Intern is responsible for providing support to the Controls Team in implementing process improvements which requires control system components and associated programming. In addition, problem solving support will be provided to the production teams as needed to ensure production downtime is minimized.
Background & Skills
To be considered for this position, you will need the following:
Working towards a BA/BS degree in Industrial Technology, Ag. Systems Technology or Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge in working with electronics
Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
Ability to make structured and purposive fault diagnostics
Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment (e.g. measurement devices for current, pressure, flow, temperature, torque, …)
Experience with Microsoft Office
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide assistance to Controls Engineers and Automation Technicians in installing and implementing new control system solutions such as sensors, cameras, and scanners that lead to work with PLC.s , HMI’s, etc
Provide technical problem-solving support to Operations for escalated production control system issues.
Responsibility includes control system design, component selection, BOM definition, schematic development, PLC/Middleware programming and debugging as necessary.
Manages Tactical Improvement Plan (TIP) generation and execution per schedule.
Utilizes off line and/or lab environment testing to complete pre-production testing and to evaluate new technology (components and software).
Provides time schedule estimates to customer for the controls system implementation portion of improvement projects.
