Structural engineers design, plan and oversee the construction of new structures or alterations of extensions to existing properties or structures.
Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Analysis, design and documentation of structural systems for various materials, such as steel, concrete, and masonry.
Reviews structural documents for areas of conflict and coordinates design with all disciplines.
Writes/edits structural specifications, selects procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and completes necessary calculations.
Independently coordinates the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project.
Establishes meetings and participates in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
Conducts design development and project site details in conjunction with Director of Engineering, Project Manager, Designers, Construction and other disciplines.
Is responsible to coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on schedule.
Coordinates and assists, with affected disciplines, with any requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders and is responsible to incorporate agreed upon changes into the project documents.
Bachelors or Master s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or BS Degree in Architectural Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
PE or the ability to obtain license within 1 year required. Preference given to a current PE. Multiple state licensure encouraged.
5-10+ years structural engineering experience.
Computer knowledge Microsoft Office, Excel, (AutoCAD, Inventor, RAM, ETABS, STAAD, RISA, SAFE or similar analytical software).
Previous experience within an engineering group. Construction and field assignments are valuable.
Communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work both independently and within a team structure is a must.
An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our company culture is a must.
Can drive projects to conclusion without a lot of management oversight.
Confident in design decision making process.
Good project management abilities.
Able to engage in all aspects of the structural design and construction process.
Nurturing relationships with office/administration, steel detailing, engineering and construction personnel.
