As an ARA Software Developer, you will work on a multitude of highly technical projects of national importance. The selected candidate will develop, code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software with a focus on providing data solutions under direction from senior developers/engineers. The candidate will be responsible for analysis, design and delivery of data visualization, analysis and reporting solutions. Our development approach fosters communication and collaboration across multiple scientific disciplines, and provides all members of our team opportunities to contribute creatively to our projects. This position supports ARA’s growing workload in data analytic application development for the security engineering, explosive effects, coastal engineering, and disaster management engineering disciplines.
The successful applicant must have strong database and/or GIS development experience . Developers with an interest in advanced professional growth in software development are particularly encouraged to apply.
Strong oral and written communication skills
BS in Computer Science or related discipline with a 3.0 GPA minimum or equivalent experience
Strong knowledge and working experience with reporting and analytics using visualization tools
Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio or Spring
Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
Experience in developing database queries such as Oracle, SQL Server, or SQLite
US Citizenship (Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.)
2-5 years of experience in data analytics or software programming
Ability to apply graph theory, analytics, and processing to real world problems
Experience in knowledge representation, discover, query, and data management systems
Knowledge of developing desktop applications using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
Experience with the Tableau suite of tools
Familiarity with the application of pattern recognition technologies to identify features, relationships, and anomalies in large databases
Experience implementing systems with probabilistic reasoning and uncertainty management and quantification
Skills in analysis, design, and development of mobile applications on iOS and/or Android platform(s) and web-based applications
2 - 5 years: Data Analytics or Software Programming
Bachelor of Science or better in Computer Science or related field
