About the Role:
The ideal candidate will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and take on projects that range in increasing complexity. The candidate is detail oriented and can work independently with minimum supervision.
The ideal candidate will prepare custom controls logic to suit the project scope and commission the control systems (HW, DHW Systems, etc.) as they become ready. Where there are any issues during the commissioning process, the candidate will apply their experience and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and facilitate the commissioning process. The candidate will also be working on the Building Automation System by means of customizing graphics tailored to the end user experience, as well as provide training on how to use the JCI Facility Explorer (FX) brand. The candidate will provide assistance to the field installers to meet startup deadlines and be ready for commissioning.
When in the office, the ideal candidate will review mechanical drawings issued by the consultant and prepare for each system (HW System, DHW System, etc.) the control schematics, sequence of operations, along with the Control Valve schedules, Damper schedules, among other requirements that may be necessary for the overall project. Where resubmissions required, the candidate will review and address the consultants comments accordingly.
The ideal candidate will be available to assist any customers on the weekend where there is an automation problem.
Effectively work as a technical professional by delivering high quality and prompt services to clients
Ensure project costs are within budgets that meet project deadlines consistently
Oversee and execute field installation and testing as well as service and commission DDC systems with exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills
Trouble-shoot systems and provide hands on work to support the operation of the Empire Controls installers
Coordinate with Mechanical Contractors to meet scheduled startup dates without any delays and interruptions.
Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering graduate or with similar experience working towards a P.Eng
Strong knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controls and starter circuitry
Knowledge of building mechanical systems, building controls applications, electrical wiring and control circuits
Field experience in HVAC systems
Ability to troubleshoot, repair and remedy automation problems in the field
A practical knowledge of electronics, particularly the application of relays, transducers, sensors and other building control components
PC skills, including development of spreadsheet programs and use of word processing and database software
Exceptional skills in Microsoft Windows, with competency in IT (networking, port forwarding)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize multiple priorities and to set and meet personal goals and deadlines
Ability to represent the company in a professional manner
Familiarity with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, etc.
Strong focus on customer service
Able to work in a team environment and with a minimum amount of direction/supervision
Demonstration of mechanical aptitude
Good judgment and problem solving skills
Competent at programming in languages and software tools such as BASIC, C++, Visio. AutoCad
Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat is a plus
Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to own vehicle
Ability to obtain a security clearance check
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
