Georgia-Pacific is seeking a self-motivated and driven individual for our Process Safety Manager to provide leadership and support to the Halsey Mill in Halsey, OR. The Process Safety Manager will lead the development and implementation of sustainable process safety improvements focusing on the identification, elimination and management of critical hazards and risks. This individual will facilitate mill wide program ownership so that process safety is sustained in each individual department. They will also provide OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), and GP Chemical Process Safety (CPS) subject matter expertise for the mill. This position will report to the mill safety leader.
The Halsey Mill is located in the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon. It is in close proximity to both the Cascade mountains and the Pacific Ocean coastline providing outstanding outdoor opportunities while also being close to two major universities and cities that present cultural diversity and entertainment. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Facilitating process safety ownership by the manufacturing organization through integration of the Safety & Health Management System and Strategy
Ensuring development and implementation of systems and processes to sustain and improve organizational performance such as improved usage of Management of Change, effective document control protocol and practices, and implementing GP Design, Operation, and Maintenance standards for Process Safety covered process
Supporting the development of the mill process safety strategy; ensuring departments have prioritized (risk-based), actionable strategies; ensuring effective metrics are utilized to monitor progress and performance
Providing technical support as required on PSM/RMP/CPS
Providing technical support to departments in the development and use of risk assessment methods and tools for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating Process Safety hazards
Ensuring departments develop and implement appropriate and effective corrective and preventive actions in response to assessments, audits, incidents, and other events/activities, and timely closure is properly tracked and documented
Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) process and facilitating completion of the follow-ups from the PHAs
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:One or more of the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or safety and two (2) years or more of process safety experience
Four (4) years or more of experience working in process safety
What Will Put You Ahead?
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry, or pulp and paper science
Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certifications
Experience in implementing OSHA/PSM and EPA/RMP requirements
Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
